we have to make a chassis model of a formula 1 type of car. its will be
of circular tubes of 1 inch outer dia. and thickness is around 2 mm.its
3 dimensional network of pipes to impart strength to the car.we want to
carry out stress analysis on it due to load coming on chassis with
weight of car and cornering of a turn(it causes torsional moment in
chassis of a car).there are few question i want to raise

1. we have modeled the 3 dimensional chassis as structure of lines in
ansys multiphysics .co ordinates of each point were given and they were
joined by lines and arcs.so chassis as a model of lines is ready. now
what to do to give sectional properties to each element, outer diameter
of all the pipes is same but they vary in thickness.
2.which type of element will be suitable(as far as i have understood,
beam type element is needed, but i am not sure about beam188/beam189)

3.what parameters are required for accurate results, like yield strength
,poisons ratio., etc.
what kind of material model to choose, and what material properties
to feed in that.
i am hoping for an early reply sir.

Hi guys!Hope someone can help me out with this one:I've been making a relatively simple geometry using DesignModeler. It is essentially a matrix of equally sized rectangles and each rectangle has within it another rectangle. In total there are about 250 to 300 rectangles. All this is in Sketch mode (so in 2D). Contraints like "Coincident", "Equal Length" and "Equal distance" were used to align all the rectangles in an orderly fashion. The problem is that as the number of rectangles increased (reached approximately 200+) the DesignModeler started responding extremely slowly in that, whenever I would change a dimension of a rectangle, or create a new one, it would take upto 2 mins for it to show up. This makes it impossible for me to finish the project (for which I have to modify all 250+ rectangles). At first sight, one may think that my pc has reached its processing limit. But I tried carrying out this project on a pc with 24GB of RAM and 8 intel i7 processors. The problem persisted. It really isn't a problem at the hardware level.Does anyone have a clue??Thanks for reading ! Hope someone can help !

Consult please on a following question. It is necessary in Ansys to solve electrodynamics problem. The problem description (2D statement): is available opened yoke (for it magnetic permeability was set only, it was described by element PLANE13) with the coil (for the coil which was described by element PLANE53 and CIRCU124 magnetic permeability and specific resistance of a material was set). The constant magnet (for a magnet magnetic permeability and coercive force was set) is brought In a air gap of the yoke during some time interval (from 0 till 0.04 s). It is necessary to define as voltage and a current in the coil changes in due course. Has actually rested against a problem of the task of the movement of a magnet. How it to simulate? Tried to break all interval of time into some steps and on each step connected degree of freedom AZ for corresponding pair of knots (command CP), however at calculation the error took off. If somebody knows as to simulate movement in electrodynamics problem in Ansys, the huge request to impart experience. Thanks! Excuse for my English, I from Russia.

the output unit completely depends upon the unit of input value. you should use the value with correct unit for getting the correct result

your youngs modulus should be N/mm2 and density should be kg/mm3 for obtaining displacement in mm

I've got a sruface model, that has thickness = 0 in Design modeler. Then once I transfer it into simulation (in 2D mode accepting 0 thickness models only) some of the surface models gain a thickness specification that is assigned as 1. You cannot go in to the thickness field in the details box and set thickness to 0 because then it puts a ? infront of the object, and won't solve at all. Sometimes all objects are assign a thickness of 1, sometimes one object remains a true "thin" surface.

In my little world since it's set on axisymetric, there should be NO option for a thickness. Assigning a thickness to an axisymetric thin model is not even really comprehensible...

This if from the help menu:

Importing Surface Body Thickness
Surface body thickness will be imported from CAD (including DesignModeler) if, and only if, the existing surface body thickness value in Simulation is set to 0 (zero). This is true on initial attach and if you set the surface body thickness value to zero prior to an update. This allows you the flexibility of updating surface body thickness values from CAD or not.

That to me means that the model must be correct coming out of DM into sim, and that the thickness has to be added in the simulation somewhere.

Does any one know where the setting might be to change this or have any ideas? Thanks!

Hello,
I am new to Ansys, I was wondering if anyone knows if we can provide Ansys structural not only with the loads, but also with a specific stiffness matrix to solve the displacements for us (it will be then working as a linear solver). I mean I do not want to provide Ansys with only the Modulus of Elasticity (and then it calculates the stiffness matrix internally), but rather with the whole stiffness matrix in order to get the displacements.
Thanks for your time
as you know with applying force on piezoelectric layer we can see the generated voltage , but this show electrical voltage on all of the piezo nodes . and this is very huge of data.
because of that I want to define some electrode on the piezo layer to see the sum voltage on any defined electord part ( as shown in ANSYS tutorial with the title of Sample piezoelectric Analysis )

Hi,

I am trying to design a barrel-stave flextensional transducer using ANSYS. I have obtained the desired resonance frequency, but I have a problem with the quality factor of transducer. I expect to get it about 4, but I have obtained it about 15.

If you have any ideas regarding this problem, I would be pleased.

Hai

I have used MPC 184 element in Ansys to model the hinge between tractor and trailer. But when I perform modal analysis, it results with frequency of zero and mode shapes are in z direction.

I have used beam3, combin14 (uy direction) and mass element.

Pl suggest me how to model the system.

If somebody can help me , or if you can give me for shure some e-mail address, please do.
I have a problem doing analysis of meander line on Si substrate.
I’m working HF electromagnetic analzysis in Ansys 10 Multiphysich.
Substrate is 760x760 micrometer, and 400micrometer hight. On top of it there is SiO2 layer of 5 micrometer of thickness, and then gos meander line whosw with is 40 micrometer and thisknes is 8 nicrometer.I cant get good S parameters wich I then use to get Q an L.
I'd tried over fifty diferent combinations of excitations and boundary conditions without succession.
If somebody can tell me what about rules for current and port excitation and boundary conditions for this particular case wich is diferent from those from HF guides in ANSYS please do.
Here goes my comand metod example (on this structure I'd tried those combinations) so that you can see how I treat this case.As I said this is just one of many of my combinations that I'd tried.
