Hi,

I am facing some problem while defining contact between shell elements. My problem is as below.

1. Two thin layers (thickness of 10^-5 m each) of composite material are bonded to a solid material like foam.
2. A third layer of the same thickness comes in contact for a certain period of time. This third layer is hot at a temperature of 232 deg celsius and there is a surface to surface contact.
3. I know the thermal contact conductance value between the hot layer and the two composite layers.

I have modeled this problem in Ansys classical. I created an area to define the hot layer and a volume which is offset from this area by the hot layer thickness to define the two bonded layers in contact wit a solid foam (Meshing area attached to the volume with shell elements and then sweeping the area by VSWEEP command) I am using SECOFFSET as bottom plane for the two bonded layers (as it is also bonded to a solid material to use the Paint option) and top plane for third hot layer. The problem while solving is that I cannot see any heat transfer from the hot layer to the two bonded layers.

Am I making some mistakes in modeling the problem?

Can you help?

Thank You.

Regards,
Devesh

I'm beginner in ANSYS v12. But I need solver about IWF Beam which the Beam get concentrated load on the "bearing plate". i am draw the IWF beam in ANSYS use Solid Material with "Tet 10 node 187". And in material models, I use struktural linier Isotropic with Ex = 75e3 and PRXY = 0.3, with nonlinier elastic use multilinier elastic diagram.
And I use nonlinier solver about "Sol'n Control Solution". But after all when i use current LS, there ara problem like " (!) TB,MELA Plasticity option is not currently supported by Element type 187 (Element 1 and material 1)". And I hope you can give me the best solver about the element, and other problem solfer for it. Thank you..

hi i m working on vessel to analyse it for elastic and elastic-plastic analysis.. i want to know how to apply thermal results in structural analysis at various time points and proper method to solve it step by step. it will be well and good if one will narrate about solution controls to be used.
thanks in advance...!

Hello

I want to simulate under ANSYS stretching along an axis of a hollow sphere. For that I model a sphere and inside I glue two small balls on each side. I impose only a displacement along x balls, one in one direction and the other in the other direction. My problem is that the balls pass through the sphere as if it did not exist!
How to solve problem?
Thank you

Hello sir,
My Problem is finding out the vertical length of the ball when the pressure should be increased.

I just create one rectangular (14*2) cm, below that the center of rectangular one half spherical ball at a radius=5cm is created. The half spherical ball and the rectangular is in point contact. . (It s 2D diagram)

ELEMENT TYPE: solid- 4 node 182

MATRL PROP: MTRL NO:1 (silicone Ball)- structural-nonlinear-elastic-hyperelastic-mooney rivilin-3 parameter c10=0.556,c01=0.038,c11=0,d=0.

MTRL NO: 2 (rectangular)- linear- isotropic- E=2e5, prxy=0.3

MESHING: Area - Mesh
CONTACT MANAGER: I choose (surface-surface) target-ball face , contact- rectangular bottom face(flat line)

SOLN: abridged menu-analysis option-NLGEOM-ON
SOLN: define loads-structural-displacement-ALL DOF- on ball flat face.

FORCE/MOMENT: pressure 15, flat face on the top of the ball
After giving load i go for SOLN- solve current LS- (I got the answer is - The values of uy at node 1 is 3.387295E+11.It is greater than the current limit of 1000000.this generally indicates rigid body motion as result of an unconstrained model. If one or more parts of the model are held together only by contact verify that the CNCHECK commands to check the initial contact states in the solution module)
I didn’t Know what mistakes i did.....

that error usually comes when your problem is poorly constrained..... i'l try the problem and get back to you..... anyways check your constrains once more....
