Hi guys!Hope someone can help me out with this one:I've been making a relatively simple geometry using DesignModeler. It is essentially a matrix of equally sized rectangles and each rectangle has within it another rectangle. In total there are about 250 to 300 rectangles. All this is in Sketch mode (so in 2D). Contraints like "Coincident", "Equal Length" and "Equal distance" were used to align all the rectangles in an orderly fashion. The problem is that as the number of rectangles increased (reached approximately 200+) the DesignModeler started responding extremely slowly in that, whenever I would change a dimension of a rectangle, or create a new one, it would take upto 2 mins for it to show up. This makes it impossible for me to finish the project (for which I have to modify all 250+ rectangles). At first sight, one may think that my pc has reached its processing limit. But I tried carrying out this project on a pc with 24GB of RAM and 8 intel i7 processors. The problem persisted. It really isn't a problem at the hardware level.Does anyone have a clue??Thanks for reading ! Hope someone can help !

Hi,

I have got an analysis to carry out and I wonder if the analysis I wanted to do is the good one. I define material, then I mesh, I control the quality of the mesh, then I add boundary conditions, I solve and to finish I analyze the convergence. Is that right?
I also wonder if I have got a parametric model, must I analyze convergence for every model?
If you have documents related to this it will be very useful for me.

Thank you

You can always use some APDL commands to do this.

Hi,

I am new to using Ansys Workbench 12.0 and need to measure the distance (straight line) between 2 points after a deformation.

I have tried specifying the coordinates of my two points in a "Path", and apply a "Total Deformation" solution. However, the data is very inaccurate.

Would there be another way of measuring the distance between 2 points on the model after deformation?

I really appreciate your help. Thank you and God Bless.

Hi, everybody.

I am Keat, from Malaysia. I am currently study in civil engineering and taking my final year project for degree graduation.

My thesis title given by supervisor is to use ANSYS to modelling a 3m X 1m C-Channel (a precast concrete slab system), to apply 2 million cyclic load (30kN) of line load to it, and then to study the deflection behavior.

After that i was request to perform lan experiment to use an actuator machine to carry out a test so that the ANSYS result can be verified.

I am struggling for around 3 month already, but still not yet any improvement. Due to lack of information in my university, and also lecture skill in this field.

The main problem I am facing now is how to perform bonding between the steel bar and concrete, since i only know how to sketch out the concrete slab and steel bar seperately in ANSYS.

And also is it possible to apply 2 Million cyclic load on the slab in ANSYS? I am currently using ANSYS v11.

Do teach me how to do it, I am very much appreciate, and I am hopping for anyone to guide me for the ANSYS usage.

Thank you very very much!

Hello valentina,

It's been almost 1 montn you posted this question. You should be having the answer by now, still....

You can always create a APDL macro in the loading area of menu. I would suggest you to you select the nodes by location for selecting the nodes at that location.

e.g

nsel,s,loc,....
f,....

if your problem is small element size in the area of application you can always give line sizing to the area you apply force.

good luck

If somebody can help me , or if you can give me for shure some e-mail address, please do.
I have a problem doing analysis of meander line on Si substrate.
I’m working HF electromagnetic analzysis in Ansys 10 Multiphysich.
Substrate is 760x760 micrometer, and 400micrometer hight. On top of it there is SiO2 layer of 5 micrometer of thickness, and then gos meander line whosw with is 40 micrometer and thisknes is 8 nicrometer.I cant get good S parameters wich I then use to get Q an L.
I'd tried over fifty diferent combinations of excitations and boundary conditions without succession.
If somebody can tell me what about rules for current and port excitation and boundary conditions for this particular case wich is diferent from those from HF guides in ANSYS please do.
Here goes my comand metod example (on this structure I'd tried those combinations) so that you can see how I treat this case.As I said this is just one of many of my combinations that I'd tried.

Hi, I am making my thesis with ansys workbench,

I have used ansys classic in order to modify a design that has been given to me, and then I have imported it in wb.
(This means that in wb I cannot modify the geometry)

Now,
on a portion of an element I must apply a force, but only on a part and not on all: how can I do it?

I have tried to modify geometry "dividing" the region of interest from the body with ansys, but then, when I execute the mesh, on the edges of this portion I have a mesh too small...
I have been told that in ansys classic the foce can be applied also on the nodes of the mesh, but I have not found no command of the sort in wb.

Thanks in advance,
valentina
