Contact in Ansys workbench

Hi all,
I am doing a project for my master degree using ansys.
I created the model in CAD software. When I take that model to workbench, it shows some 20 contacts in the model. Where actually the contacts may not be needed in that place,((i.e)actually these parts are welded together as a whole body in the practical applications, so do I need to have bonded contacts in the model(at welded locations) or can I merge into a single solid for the structural analysis))
Will the results differ for both types of structural analysis.
Put Simply, do we need to impose contacts in the place of steel weldings in structural parts?.
Please share your information, and the time you spend is highly appreciated.
thanks in advance.
regards
