    Hi,

Anyone have an idea of how to do a thermal stress analysis in ANSYS workbench 12.0
I'm pretty new to the package so would need step by step instruction for the most part.
Basically, I am trying to simulate the cooling process of a composite material (cobalt with a diamond inclusion) from 1000 deg C to room temp, and show the residual stress distribution.
I hav the model imported into ANSYS and thr materials assigned to each part, and the model meshed. Just dont know how or where to run the analysis. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

i have no idea thermal analysis in ansys workbench, but in ansys Multiphysics and Mechanical, First u have to apply either Temperature or Heat transfer coefficient on the FE Model. Use Plane-55 Element with corresponding Material properties, this creates an rth file, which u can read in structural analysis.
