    Hello All,
I need to do the following in LS DYNA. I am trying to simulate a ballistic test. In the actual ballistic test, a long roll of fiber is pre-stressed by about 5.5 lb force along its longer length and then wrapped multiple times on a ring. I have a similar model in LS DYNA in which I have the fabric wrapped around the ring. I have modeled the ring with solid elements and the fabric with shell elements. I have to apply prestress to the fabric now. The problem I am facing is that if I use the *INITIAL_STRESS_SHELL , I can apply stresses in only global x,y,z and shears. As the fabric is curved around the ring, the global x,y,z make no sense. How can I apply the prestress.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Please contact me at avaidya2@asu.edu. I can provide more details.
