i have a ring of outer dia 700 units and inner dia 500 unit of thickness 150 units. this rings are at a distance of 500 units. the lower or base ring is fixed. in between the base ring and top ring it is connected by springs (8 to 10 nos). a pressure is applied to the top surface of the top ring.

the problems i face:
1. if the depth is z direction. i get displacement of the ring in xy axis(why?) and z axis
2. if one of the spring has a gap of 1 unit. i get even displacement in the spring(why?)
3. i used combin40 element for spring to give gap. where is the gap placed in the spring?
4. is there any thing else i can used to give gap in the spring in between two rings?
