    Dear all,
Ths is a very interesting topic...
Pls explain what element (3D truss) I should use for Euler buckling analysis? how to find out buckling mode shapes of the truss using ANSYS?

    Explanation:
Launching truss is a long slender steel truss, used in the erection of heavy weight prestressed concrete multi-span bridges over difficult terrain or water, where scaffolding is not feasible at all. While placing prefabricated concrete segments, the steel truss is not only subjected to bending, but also lateral buckling. In my case, 48 meter span of launching truss is used to place the prestressed concrete bridge segment of weight 100 ton.It is required do lateral buckling analysis of the truss. can anyone explain how to do lateral buckling analysis, and how to find out buckling mode shapes of the truss using ANSYS?
    I'm using ansys Release 11.0 - Multiphysics.
    thanks in advance
