Hi, I'm new to Ansys. I'm trying to do a structural analysis on a frame. There are basically 3 main bodies, the composite fiberglass mold, the box frame which attaches to the mould, and some large L-bracket steel arms that slide into the side of the frame.

I have received an IGES file from my client and have imported it into Solidworks. I need to simplify the box frame geometry to a 3D line drawing before exporting it into Ansys to be converted into beam elements. Once that is done, I am ready for the next step, importing everything into Ansys.

The question I have is, where do I start with the importing? Do I import the frame as a line sketch first? Do I also import the original geometry of the frame as a reference or can I view the surface geometry by plotting it? From there, how do I install the other components and mate them together, or rather in Ansys terms, define the boundary conditions? after all, I am trying to mate surface-geometry to line-geometry.
